ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and discussed the evolving regional situation amid the ongoing US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes across the region.
Ishaq Dar held a series of diplomatic contacts with regional leaders on Saturday to discuss the evolving security situation in the Middle East.
Deputy PM Dar spoke separately with Iranian FM Araghchi, Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, and United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to statements issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The outreach comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf following missile and drone attacks.
During his conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Dar discussed the evolving regional situation, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement.
“The two leaders exchanged views on recent developments and agreed to remain in contact,” the Foreign Office said.

Pakistan stresses peace and stability
Dar also held a telephonic conversation with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan.
According to Foreign Office, both leaders exchanged views on the regional situation and expressed hope for peace and stability.
“They agreed to remain in close contact on evolving developments,” the Foreign Office statement said.

In another call, Dar spoke with the United Arab Emirates’ Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the conversation, the two ministers discussed the regional security situation and emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability.
Dar also conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE following recent attacks in the region.
“The Deputy Prime Minister expressed concern over the recent attacks in the region including those on the UAE and conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE and its people,” the Foreign Office said.

Engagement with Gulf Cooperation Council
Separately, Dar also spoke with the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi.
Both sides reviewed the evolving regional developments and emphasised the need for de-escalation.
“The Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s strong partnership and solidarity with the Council,” the Foreign Office said.
The two leaders underscored the importance of dialogue and cooperation to maintain regional peace and stability.

Pakistan emphasises diplomacy
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the country was playing a constructive diplomatic role to help reduce tensions in the region.
Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore, Tarar said Pakistan was working actively on the diplomatic front to encourage de-escalation.
“Pakistan is playing a constructive and effective role on the diplomatic front for de-escalation in the region,” he said.
Tarar added that Pakistan continued to advocate for peace while maintaining strong defensive capabilities.
“Pakistan has been globally acknowledged as a strong country on defence and diplomatic fronts,” he said.
He said the country’s armed forces remained highly professional and vigilant.
“While Pakistan continues to advocate for de-escalation and peace, its own defence is impregnable,” he added.
Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach comes as tensions in the Middle East have intensified following Iranian missile and drone attacks on several Gulf states.
