ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday strongly condemned Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, calling for maximum restraint to prevent further escalation in the region.

Pakistan regretted the breakdown of talks and outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East after the US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

In a statement, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan condemned the attacks against Iran.

“These attacks come at a time when diplomatic efforts were underway to reach a peaceful and negotiated solution. Such a course of action will undermine the peace and stability of the entire region, with far reaching consequences,” Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Pakistan also strongly condemned the attacks by Iran against the “brotherly countries” of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE.

Pakistan “stands in solidarity with all these brotherly countries and underscores the need to exercise maximum restraint,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

“The unprovoked attacks constitute blatant violations of the sovereignty of the brotherly Gulf states,” the Ministry added.

Pakistan also condemned the unfortunate death of a Pakistani national in the UAE during this “dastardly attack”.

Pakistan urges restraint

Pakistan urged all sides to refrain from further actions that may undermine the security and territorial integrity of other regional countries.

“We urge all sides to refrain from any further actions that may undermine the security and territorial integrity of other regional countries,” Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Pakistan urged the need for upholding the international law and principles of the UN Charter and emphasised upon all sides to resume diplomacy and find a peaceful and negotiated solution to the crisis.

Earlier today, the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Iran.

Pakistan PM, Saudi Crown discuss regional escalation

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

PM Sharif strongly condemned the serious regional escalation that had taken place as a result of the Israeli attack on Iran today, followed by the regrettable attacks on other Gulf countries.

While assuring the Saudi leadership of Pakistan’s full solidarity and support in the current situation, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan would always stand with its Saudi brothers and sisters, at all times to come, and under all circumstances.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan was ready to play a constructive role at this difficult time and prayed that the blessings of the Holy Month of Ramadan would bring peace to the region at the earliest.

Pakistan expresses concern over unfolding developments

Earlier, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over rapidly unfolding developments in the Middle East.

“Both leaders expressed deep concern over the unfolding regional developments, and agreed to remain in close contact on the evolving situation,” the ministry said.
