ISLAMABAD: A new group of 25 Sri Lankan students has arrived in Karachi to pursue their medical studies at top Pakistani universities under the Allama Iqbal Scholarships.
The students received a warm welcome upon their arrival at Jinnah International Airport.
They are the latest beneficiaries of the Pakistan–Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme, a fully funded scholarship initiative administered by Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The students will pursue their MBBS degrees at prestigious institutions, namely Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS).
Both universities are fully accredited by the Sri Lankan Medical Council (SLMC), guaranteeing that the degrees earned will be internationally recognised.
This new group joins a substantial community of over 430 Sri Lankan students already studying in Pakistan under the same programme.
These students are enrolled in a diverse array of fields, including Engineering, Business Studies, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences, in addition to Medicine.
All recipients were selected through a rigorous and competitive process, strictly adhering to the admission criteria of Pakistani higher education institutions.
In a continued effort to strengthen educational ties, a further 100 Sri Lankan students are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan in the coming weeks.
