T20 World Cup: USA Keep Super 8 Hopes Alive With Win Over Netherlands

CHENNAI:  Saiteja Mukkamalla’s explosive half-century, combined with Harmeet Singh’s four-wicket haul, powered the United States of America (USA) to a commanding 93-run victory over the Netherlands in the 21st match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a challenging target of 197, the Dutch side was bundled out for just 103 in 15.5 overs.

All-rounder Bas de Leede top-scored for the Netherlands with a quick 23 off 17 balls, followed by captain Scott Edwards with 20 off 14 deliveries. Max O’Dowd (13) and Roelof van der Merwe (10) were the other batters to reach double figures.

Singh was the star with the ball for the USA, claiming 4 wickets for 21 runs in his four overs. Shadley van Schalkwyk took three wickets, Mohammad Mohsin picked up two, and Nosthush Kenjige contributed one, completing a dominant bowling performance.

The Netherlands won the toss and elected to bowl first against the United States. Captain Scott Edwards made the decision as the Dutch looked to gain an early advantage in the group-stage contest, while USA skipper Monank Patel led his side in setting a target.
