ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhary, has reaffirmed the nation’s resolve against terrorism, adding that no one can shake ‘our determination to eliminate this menace.’
He made the remarks while talking to reporters during his visit to the site of the suicide bomb blast in Islamabad on Friday.
The Minister of State stated that terrorists are being successfully eliminated through a comprehensive national strategy, and in their frustration, they are increasingly targeting soft locations such as mosques and imambargahs.
He emphasised that Pakistan’s approach in the war against terrorism is clear: the country is committed to fighting this conflict to achieve victory.
Talal Chaudhary condemned the killing of innocent people under the guise of religion, describing it as outright terrorism with no connection to either faith or genuine nationalist movements.
He further asserted that there is irrefutable evidence of India’s involvement in sponsoring terrorists, who are trained in Afghanistan before carrying out attacks inside Pakistan.
The Minister added that Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghanistan not to serve as a proxy for India in fomenting terrorism.
The death toll from a powerful blast that tore through an imambargah in Pakistan’s federal capital during Friday prayers has risen to 31, while 169 people were wounded, the district administration said.
The explosion struck Imambargah Khadijah al-Kubra in the Tarlai area of the federal capital, triggering a swift rescue and security response as police and emergency teams rushed to evacuate the injured and secure the site.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, in a post on X, said the suicide bomber was challenged by security guards, after which he opened fire and blew his suicide vest among worshippers standing in the last row.
