PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali has ordered disciplinary action against “miscreants” responsible for the attack on the residence and office of the Gomal University’s vice-chancellor.

He issued the orders after a telephonic contact with Gomal University Vice-Chancellor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad.

K-P governor for taking action

The K-P governor contacted the VC after receiving reports of attacks on the VC’s residence and office and ordered him to take strict action against them.

The K-P governor also called Dera Ismail Khan RPO Salim Marwat to take necessary steps to ensure the protection of the Gomal University’s VC, teachers, students and properties.

PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur’s supporters had allegedly stormed the residence of Gomal University Vice-Chancellor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad and broke down its gate. The attackers first barged into the home of VC Dr Iftikhar and broke down its main entrance, then ransacked it. The enraged group went to the VC’s office and subjected the staff to torture.

Gandapur hurled threats of severe consequences at VC Dr Iftikhar if he did not leave the charge.

The K-P police had already registered a case about hurling threats by the PTI former minister.

VC Dr Iftikhar had earlier informed the then K-P governor Shah Farman about these threats. At that time, the vice-chancellor had also submitted an application to the FIA requesting it to register a case against Gandapur, which was still in the inquiry process.
