Growing engagement
Last week, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, held a phone conversation with Myanmar’s Foreign Minister U Than Swe where both sides stressed the importance of resolving regional issues through peaceful dialogue to ensure stability in the region.
They also agreed to remain in close and constructive engagement on matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan and Myanmar have historically maintained cordial diplomatic relations, sharing interests in trade, regional stability, and cultural exchange.
In recent years, both countries have sought to deepen engagement on matters such as economic collaboration, border management, and participation in regional forums like the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
