DUBAI: The Arab coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to de-escalation and the protection of civilians, warning that any military movements undermining stability would be addressed immediately.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the stance follows a request from Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council to take urgent measures to safeguard civilians in Hadramout Governorate. The coalition highlighted ongoing efforts to curb humanitarian violations and prevent actions that could reignite conflict.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the measures form part of coordinated Saudi-Emirati initiatives aimed at reducing tensions, facilitating the withdrawal of forces, handing over military camps, and enabling local authorities to fully carry out their responsibilities.
Al-Maliki reiterated the coalition’s firm support for Yemen’s internationally recognised government and urged all parties to show restraint and pursue peaceful solutions. He also underscored the importance of adhering to de-escalation understandings to preserve security and stability across southern Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has previously called for the withdrawal of forces from areas seized earlier this month in Hadramout and Mahra, reinforcing its push for dialogue and calm.
