JEDDAH: The Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah hosted an open forum under its ImpaQ Talk series to analyze key trends and transformative shifts in the visual content industry.

Organised by the Ministry of Media, the forum also discussed strengthening the role of specialised media in the Saudi film scene, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

Speakers discussed a range of topics, including the influence of filmmaking, the evolution of film criticism, and the changing role of content creators on contemporary platforms.

Participants highlighted the importance of film media in supporting the national film industry and fostering a lasting cultural legacy.

The forum also explored the development of specialised critical content that keeps pace with technological advancements, and the vital role content creators play in connecting audiences with the world of filmmaking.

According to the CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, the fifth edition of the film festival represents “a significant shift for the foundation, moving it from a successful emerging event to a truly established, year-round industry incubator.”

Since 2021, the Red Sea Film Fund has backed a number of productions across the region.

“The Red Sea Fund has supported over 310 films since 2021 … the stories are out there, the desire is strong, and the skills base is growing,” Baltyuor said.
