BAKU, Azerbaijan: An explosion at a five-story office building in the Narimanov district of the Azerbaijani capital on Monday left five people wounded, authorities said.

Azerbaijan’s Emergency Situations Ministry said in a statement that emergency crews were dispatched immediately after the blast, which did not trigger a fire. Seven people were rescued from the building as part of the response, reports Anadolu.

“Appropriate security measures were taken in the area. An investigation into the incident is underway by the relevant agencies,” the ministry said.

Separately, the state news agency Azertac, citing the press service of a local medical centre, reported that all five injured individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Emergency services said they rescued seven people from the building and have launched an investigation into the cause of the blast. Local media reported that the condition of the five hospitalized victims was assessed as moderate. The explosion occurred inside a commercial property on Ahmad Rajabli Street, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
