LAHORE, Pakistan: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied media claims suggesting that the names of the two new HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have been finalised, stressing that the selection process is still ongoing.
In an official statement, the PCB reiterated that successful bidders will have the right to choose a team name from cities listed in the Bid Documents, once the bidding process concludes.
Recent reports speculated that Faisalabad and Gilgit were the confirmed additions for the league’s expansion to eight teams from its 11th edition.
However, PCB sources clarified that these two are merely part of a six-city shortlist, which also includes Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Rawalpindi.

The PCB welcomed rising international interest in acquiring the two new franchise rights. A public advertisement inviting bids was issued on 15 November 2025, with the deadline for technical proposal submissions set for 15 December at 11:00 AM.
Proposals will be opened later that morning, and only technically qualified bidders will move forward.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi earlier shared a tender invitation banner on X, outlining key timelines and encouraging global participation.
In his post, he emphasised the PSL’s continued growth, noting that the addition of two teams marks a new milestone for the league.
The expansion comes shortly after the PCB completed an independent valuation of PSL franchises and related commercial assets. Revised renewal offer letters have already been issued to existing franchises for the upcoming 10-year cycle.
To maintain transparency, the PCB also facilitated joint and individual briefings between franchise officials and independent valuer EY MENA, enabling teams to discuss the valuation methodology and seek clarifications.
