WASHINGTON: Two years following the violent attack on the United States Capitol, US President Joe Biden said on Friday that the United States has “no place” for political violence as he (Biden) honored police who fought off the crowd of former President Donald Trump supporters.

In a White House ceremony, President Biden said that despite their differences in opinion, they must say clearly with a united voice that there is no place in America for political violence.
On the occasion, the United States President also awarded 14 Presidential Citizens Medals, America’s second-highest civilian honor, to police personnel present at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and others.
Other awardees included Caroline Edwards, Harry Dunn, Aquilino Gonell, Michael Fanone, and Daniel Hodges, all personnel of law enforcement who defended the Capitol on January 6.
President Biden said that history will remember “your names,” and bravery. He further said that the United States is a land of laws, not chaos.
Former President Donald Trump supporters broke through barricades, attacked police, and entered the Capitol on January. 6, 2021, in an attempt to stop congressional certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 polls victory.
