Pakistan on Monday strongly rebuked the Taliban regime for remarks on its internal affairs, urging Afghan authorities to focus on their own domestic issues and respect the principle of non-interference in line with international diplomatic norms.
In a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad said Pakistan does not require “outside advice” on its internal matters.
“The principle of non-interference in matters of other countries should be adhered to as per international diplomatic norms. Pakistan does not require outside advice on its internal matters,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson stated.
Pakistan called on the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan to uphold their commitments made during the Doha process. “We also expect the Taliban Regime to abide by its obligations and promises made to the international community during the Doha Process,” the spokesperson said.
Pakistan has urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to honour their commitment of not allowing Afghanistan’s territory to be used for terrorism against other countries, calling on Kabul to play its due role for peace and stability in the region and beyond.
In a statement on Sunday, the Foreign Office said Pakistan is deeply concerned at the “unwarranted aggression by the Afghan Taliban, Fitna-e-Khawarij (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) and Fitna-e-Hindustan (terrorist groups operating in Balochistan) along the Pak-Afghan border on the night of 11-12 October.”
Pakistan has warned the Afghan Taliban that it will not hesitate to target hideouts of Indian-backed terrorists and their facilitators inside Afghanistan if cross-border terrorism continues.
