ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military says its troops killed seven terrorists during an diligence-based operation in Sherani district of Balochistan province.

The military’s media wing, ISPR, said the raid targeted members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by officials as “Fitna al Khawarij.”

According to the statement, troops engaged the terrorists in an intense exchange of fire before killing seven. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were seized, while follow-up operations were launched to track down other suspects in the area.

Officials accused the terrorists of being “Indian-sponsored terrorists” responsible for multiple attacks in Balochistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces, saying: “We will never allow those who seek to harm Pakistan’s integrity to succeed.”

In Pakistan, the term Fitna al-Khawarij is a label officially used by the government and military for extremist and banned terrorist groups, most prominently the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), long weakened by Pakistani military operations, has regained strength by exploiting safe havens in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Once forced to remain on the move, TTP fighters now enjoy protection from Afghan Taliban commanders, using Afghan soil to regroup and plan cross-border attacks.

Pakistan are determined to wipeout the menace of Indian sponsored terrorism from the country, and reaffirm the nation’s unwavering resolve to bring the perpetrators of terrorism to justice, the ISPR statement said.
