Doha, Qatar: Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has denounced Israel’s recent airstrike on Qatar as a “grave violation of international law” during high-level talks with Arab leaders on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha.
In separate meetings with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Sharif pledged Pakistan’s “all-out diplomatic support” to confront what he called Israel’s reckless aggression that threatens regional peace.
The summit was convened after Israeli warplanes targeted a residential area in Doha on September 9, in what was widely seen as an escalation of the nearly two-year Gaza war.
Strong Condemnation of Israeli Aggression
In all meetings, Shehbaz Sharif delivered Pakistan’s strongest condemnation yet of Israel’s actions, calling the strike a “grave violation of international law” and a deliberate attempt to derail regional peace efforts. He assured leaders that Pakistan, currently a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, would mobilize diplomatic channels including the OIC to hold Israel accountable.
Meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Israel’s September 9 strike on Doha as a “flagrant violation of sovereignty and international law.” He reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with Qatar, recalling that Islamabad had already called for an emergency UN Security Council session at Doha’s request. Sheikh Tamim thanked Sharif for his participation in the summit and his earlier visit to express support, with both leaders agreeing to remain in close contact as the crisis unfolds.
During his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Shehbaz praised the kingdom’s “bold and sagacious leadership” in unifying the Muslim world at a critical juncture.
With Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Pakistani prime minister lauded Cairo’s proactive diplomacy, while both sides pledged solidarity with Qatar and agreed to intensify coordination on mobilizing international support.
During meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Shehbaz both leaders emphasized the urgency of Muslim unity and agreed to remain in close consultation amid Israel’s continued belligerence.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed that the Doha summit itself sent an unmistakable message: that Muslims around the world “spoke with one voice” against Israel’s unlawful actions. He underlined that unity within the Muslim world, coupled with coordinated diplomatic pressure, was essential to safeguarding regional peace and security.
