Pakistan, Türkiye Voice Concern over Gaza Famine, Reaffirm Solidarity with Palestinians

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Türkiye on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis and famine in Gaza, reaffirming their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and emphasising the urgent need for humanitarian aid and relief efforts.

The issue was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Jeddah, on the sidelines of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The Deputy Prime Minister conveyed his sincere appreciation to Türkiye for its leadership in its capacity as Chair of the 51st OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.

Both leaders also reaffirmed the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and expressed their commitment to further enhancing the multifaceted bilateral cooperation.

In a post on his X handle, Ishaq Dar said we affirmed firm solidarity with Palestine, noting the worsening humanitarian crisis and famine, and the urgent need for humanitarian aid and relief.

He said we also reaffirmed the brotherly Pakistan-Türkiye relations and looked forward to further strengthening our multifaceted cooperation.

Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening ties with brotherly countries in North Africa through enhanced connectivity and broader cooperation across diverse fields.

He was talking to Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and the Foreign Minister of Algeria Ahmed Attaf, in Jeddah, on the sidelines of the 21st extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.

In a post on his X handle, Ishaq Dar said they discussed the grave situation in Palestine, stressing the urgent need for humanitarian access, a ceasefire, and lasting peace, while underscoring the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah in these challenging times.
