ISLAMABAD: A delegation from China’s Shandong Xinxu Group met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday to present plans for major industrial development in Pakistan, including the creation of a maritime industrial complex and an environmentally sustainable shipbreaking facility, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Shandong Xinxu Group Co., Ltd., a technology-driven enterprise specialising in renewable energy, nuclear power equipment, wastewater treatment and smart energy storage solutions, expressed its interest in expanding operations to Pakistan.
The delegation, headed by company chairman Hou Jianxin, held discussions with Prime Minister Sharif in Islamabad.
Chinese investment
During the meeting, the prime minister welcomed Chinese investment and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors by offering comprehensive facilitation, particularly within the framework of Special Economic Zones.
“The company aims to develop a maritime industrial complex and an eco-friendly shipbreaking yard in Pakistan,” the PMO noted in its statement.
