RIYADH: A medical team at Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Ear Specialist Centre has successfully carried out the region’s first cochlear implant surgery using robotic arm technology, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
The technology known as “automatic implantation” marks an advanced leap in the field of hearing surgery.
This advanced technology allows surgeons to insert cochlear implant electrodes with exceptional precision and stability, enhancing patient safety and supporting optimal hearing outcomes.
The robotic arm offers easy control, consistent performance, and high accuracy in executing delicate surgical movements, thereby elevating the overall quality of surgical care.
King Abdullah Ear Specialist Centre, affiliated with King Abdulaziz University Hospital in the King Saud University Medical City, is considered one of the leading reference centres for cochlear implantation in Saudi Arabia and the region.
The hospital has multidisciplinary medical expertise and advanced technologies that ensure the provision of comprehensive specialised care for patients with hearing loss.
