RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have killed nine “Indian-sponsored” terrorists during a joint intelligence-based operation in Malakand district of the country’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military’s media wing stated on Sunday.
According to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the intelligence-based operation was conducted from July 16 to 20, on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to “Indian proxy, Fitna al Khwarij”. Fitna al Khwarij is a state term referred to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an Indian proxy group.
ISPR said that security forces, in coordination with police, Levies, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and the district administration, launched the operation in Malakand after receiving credible intelligence on terrorist movements in the region.
“During the conduct of the operation, spread over four days, own forces skillfully surrounded and effectively engaged the khwarij (TTP terrorists) location. After intense multiple fire exchanges, nine Indian-sponsored khwarij were sent to hell, while eight others were apprehended,” ISPR said.
The military’s media wing further stated that two terrorist hideouts were destroyed, and a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered during the operation.
Locals in the Malakand district appreciated the operation and expressed their support for the state’s counterterrorism efforts, ISPR stated.
A sanitisation operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists, ISPR added.
“The security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, in step with the nation, are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian Sponsored Terrorism from the country,” the military’s media wing resolved.
Four Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in Balochistan
Earlier today, Pakistan’s security forces killed at least four terrorists in the country’s southwestern Balochistan province.
The terrorists associated with Fitna al-Hindustan, also known as Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), were neutralised in a successful operation carried out on the night between July 19 and 20, ISPR stated.
“The terrorist associated with the ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’ group were targeted after their movement was detected in the region,” ISPR said.
Balochistan has seen an uptick in terrorist attacks in recent months, with Pakistan blaming India for sponsoring terror outfits.
