ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Sunday warned India that any escalation of tensions would receive a strong and united response from Pakistan, cautioning that conflict between two nuclear powers would endanger regional and global peace.

Speaking to a private news channel, Khawaja Asif said that the entire Pakistani nation stands firmly with its armed forces and is fully prepared to respond to any aggression from India.

“The nation is united with its armed forces and will take a firm stance against any aggression,” Asif said.

He stressed that the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) had been brought to the attention of the international community, urging for an impartial inquiry and investigation into the incident.

However, the Defence Minister warned that if tensions escalate, “no one can stop us,” adding, “If Modi chooses to escalate tensions, we will chase him all the way home.”

Referring to the Pulwama incident, Asif accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of once again resorting to false propaganda.

He asserted that Pakistan is strong enough to counter any disinformation campaign and respond effectively to any provocation.

Responding to a question, Asif categorically said that Pakistan’s armed forces and its people are fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and that there would be no compromise on this principle.

He also lauded the Pakistani media for playing a crucial role in countering Indian disinformation campaigns and bringing the truth to light.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss the evolving regional situation, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Sunday.

During the call, Dar briefed his Chinese counterpart on the current developments and expressed deep gratitude for China’s consistent and unwavering support.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan rejected India’s unilateral and illegal actions, as well as its baseless propaganda against Pakistan.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, the spokesperson added.
