ISLAMABAD: Al Shabab militants, who operate in Somalia, have freed as many as 14 Iranian fishermen whom the rebels had kept captive for many years.
According to Iranian media reports, their freedom was achieved following a complex dialogue between Somali elders, government officials, and tribal chiefs.
Late on Saturday, the group reaches their hometown Chabahar in southern Iran.

Al Shabab rebels kidnapped some fishermen eight years ago
The rebels had kidnapped some of the fishermen in international waters. A few of those kidnapped were abducted around eight years ago.
Earlier, in Iran’s capital Tehran, the family members of many of those freed welcomed them at the airport.
