ISLAMABAD: A Russian Navy Flotilla, comprising two frigates and a medium sea tanker has arrived in Karachi for a goodwill visit, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.
According to Director General Public Relations Navy, the Russian warships were accorded a warm welcome upon arrival at Karachi port.
During the port call, the crew of the visiting ships will engage in professional discussions with Pakistan Navy.

Maritime cooperation
In October 2024, Pakistan and Russia agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation in maritime security and naval technology, according to Radio Pakistan.
An understanding to this effect was reached at the meeting between Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Colonel General Alexander V Fomin in Islamabad held in October 2024. Admiral Naveed Ashraf had said Pakistan valued its relationship with the Russian Federation and sought a long-term multifaceted partnership.
The Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation had acknowledged Pakistan Navy’s continuous efforts and high commitment to maritime security in the region.
