MAKKAH: Saudi Arabia has launched the AI-powered “Al-Maqraa” project at the Grand Mosque of Makkah, offering Quranic education in 10 different languages.

President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais inaugurated the programme, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais on the occasion said that Al-Maqraa is an international Quranic education platform that combines authenticity, modern methods, rigorous methodology, and AI technology.

“This inauguration is a Ramadan gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to all Muslims and visitors to the Grand Mosque of Makkah,” he said.

Al-Maqraa offers a comprehensive programme for Quranic recitation, tajweed, and memorisation, supervised by qualified teachers.

It includes a robust Sharia-compliant administrative system to monitor performance in Quran study circles, detailed analytical reports, a motivating educational environment, flexible enrollment in study circles, and an integrated system for issuing accredited Quran recitation certificates.

The project aims to promote Islamic values among Quran memorisation students at the Grand Mosque while providing a flexible learning environment.

Al-Maqraa platform, one of the presidency’s most significant strategic enrichment initiatives, embodies the Prophet’s teaching: “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Quran and teach it.”
