MOSCOW: Russia claimed on Saturday that it has captured the village of Zoryane in eastern Ukraine, allowing its troops to move closer to the industrial center of Kurakhove.
Located west of Donetsk city, which is already under Russian control, Kurakhove is now facing intensified military pressure, with Russian forces positioned just a few kilometers from the town center.
The Russian defense ministry stated that “the locality of Zoryane… has been liberated.”
Before the invasion in early 2022, Kurakhove had a population of approximately 20,000 and is situated south of Pokrovsk, a key logistics hub. Moreover, Russian troops have increased their offensive operations in the southern region of Zaporizhzhia.
