BEIRUT, Lebanon: Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that its fighters repelled two infiltration attempts by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, as Israel escalates its military operations against the group.

Israel has been intensifying attacks on Hezbollah in recent weeks, after targeting Hamas, a Palestinian ally of the Lebanese militant group.

According to Hezbollah, its fighters detonated an explosive device to counter Israeli forces attempting to infiltrate the southeastern border town of Blida.

In a separate incident, Hezbollah fighters reportedly targeted Israeli soldiers with artillery and rocket-propelled weapons near Labouneh, another border area, at 4:55 a.m.
