Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom Agree to Enhance Defence Cooperation

LONDON: The Defence Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Ben Wallace, on Tuesday received his Saudi Arabian counterpart Prince Khalid bin Salman in London.

Both leaders held detailed discussions on issues of mutual interests and defence cooperation. The ministers reviewed the strength of the historic defence collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom (UK), which is based on a shared commitment to stability, peace, and the strengthening of regional and mutual security.

The British Defence Minister Ben Wallace and his Saudi counterpart welcomed the signing of the defence cooperation plan. The defence cooperation plan will enhance bilateral security and defence collaboration to address shared security challenges through regular consultation, dialogue, capability-building, education, and training.

The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence said the deal reaffirms the UK’s strong commitment to working with Riyadh on promoting regional stability and security.
“It is a pleasure to sign this plan for defence cooperation, bringing us even closer to one of our most important partners. It is a key milestone between our two nations, as we look to enhance our defense partnership further in support of mutual and regional security,” Wallace said.
