BEIRUT: An Israeli air strike on Wednesday targeted a residential building in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus and killed three civilians, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
“An Israeli air strike targeted a flat in a residential building in the Mazzeh neighbourhood frequented by Hezbollah leaders and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards,” the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
This strike marks the second in as many days on a region known to house security headquarters and diplomatic missions, raising concerns about escalating violence in the area.
Among the casualties were two foreigners, while Syrian state news agency SANA reported that three civilians were killed and three others injured in the attack.
The Syrian Observatory noted that Wednesday’s strike occurred approximately 500 meters from a previous strike on Tuesday, which resulted in the deaths of six civilians, one of whom was a television anchor.
The strikes have intensified in recent days, including in areas near the border with Lebanon.
