ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a three-day official visit, marking an important moment for bilateral relations between the two nations.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, PM Ibrahim was warmly welcomed by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and was presented with a ceremonial 21-cannon salute upon his arrival in Islamabad.
The visit aims to strengthen ties between Malaysia and Pakistan, focusing on a wide-ranging agenda that includes talks on trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, the halal food industry, tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and other members of the federal cabinet were present at the welcoming ceremony, where children in traditional attire presented flowers to the visiting dignitary.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, on Monday emphasized the historical and cultural bonds that unite the two countries. “This visit provides an important opportunity to further strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia relations,” she stated.
During his visit, Prime Minister Ibrahim is expected to meet with Prime Minister Sharif and other senior officials to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation. Recent discussions have emphasized the need for increased collaboration in areas such as defence and security, science and technology, renewable energy, and climate change.
