RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Aleksandar Mitrovic showcased his top form, scoring twice to propel Al Hilal to a 3-1 win over Al Ittihad in the 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League. The highly anticipated Saudi Clasico, held at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City, saw Al Hilal dominate from the start.
Al Ittihad initially thought they had scored when N’Golo Kante’s pass found Moussa Diaby, but the goal was ruled offside. Al Hilal quickly responded in the third minute, with Ruben Neves crossing to Mitrovic, who headed home past Predrag Rajkovic to open the scoring.
Mitrovic added a second from the penalty spot after Renan Lodi was fouled in the box, marking his eighth goal of the season. Al Hilal’s Salem Al Dawsari then extended the lead with a brilliant solo effort, running 50 yards before a cool finish.
Karim Benzema pulled one back for Al Ittihad late in the match, but it wasn’t enough to stop Al Hilal from securing the victory. This win ended Al Ittihad’s unbeaten run and put Al Hilal at the top of the league, affirming their dominance.
