TEL AVIV, Israel: Israeli security services announced the arrest of an Israeli businessman suspected of being involved in an Iranian-backed plot to assassinate key figures, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The individual, with ties to Turkiye, had reportedly met twice in Iran to discuss assassinations of high-profile targets like Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and the head of the Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency.

The arrest, which took place last month, underscores the ongoing intelligence war between Israel and its regional adversaries.

Just last week, Shin Bet uncovered a Hezbollah plot to assassinate former Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon. This comes amid escalating tensions with Hezbollah, which recently suffered heavy casualties from a sophisticated attack targeting its communication equipment. Although Israel hasn’t officially commented, multiple sources attribute the attack to Mossad.
