ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday paid rich tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed (Nishan-i-Haider) lauding his bravery and sacrifice while protecting the motherland during the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

In their separately issued messages on the 59th martyrdom anniversary of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, the president and prime minister stated that the whole country saluted the great soldier for his matchless valor and sacrifice.

The president of Pakistan said that Major Aziz Bhatti fulfilled his responsibilities of protecting the country bravely fighting the enemy in the 1965 India-Pakistan war. He said that the entire country pays tribute to its hero for sacrificing his life to defend the country. His eternal sacrifice is a bright example for us. We renew our pledge that we will be ready to make every possible sacrifice for our nation,” President Asif Ali Zardari said.

In his statement, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz stated that Major Aziz Bhatti thwarted the enemy’s evil and nefarious designs with his bravery in the September 1965 war. His steadfast determination to defend his motherland forced the enemy to retreat, who otherwise had dreamed of capturing Lahore.  He stated that Aziz Bhatti Shaheed stood firm against the enemy, undaunted by their numerical superiority.

“His great sacrifice for the country’s defense will be honored and kept alive forever in the history of Pakistan. His passion and dutifulness to fight the enemy without caring about his own life is an ideal example for the next generations,” the prime minister stated.

He further said that the whole country paid a rich tribute to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and other troops for sacrificing their lives to defend the nation, which they would never forget.
