ISLAMABAD: The Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam extended congratulations to the people and government of Pakistan on the occasion of its Defense Day to be observed tomorrow.
In his congratulatory message, Ambassador Moghadam stated: “As the great nation of Pakistan celebrates its Defense Day (Yaum-i-Difa) on September 6th, I extend my sincere and warmest felicitations to the Armed Forces, Government, and people of Pakistan on this significant occasion.”
In his social media post shared on X and Facebook, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran greatly values its brotherly ties with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and earnestly hopes that our existing bond of friendship will continue to strengthen. “
I also pay tribute to the Pakistani Shuhadas who have bravely defended their motherland,” he said in his post.
Defence and Martyrs Day will be observed on Friday to pay rich tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis and reaffirm resolve to defend the motherland against all threats.
It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed the international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation and the armed forces foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.

The legacy of unmatched gallantry and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Army Officers and Jawans started with the martyrdom of Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) in the 1948 Kashmir War, was carried forward by Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) in 1965 war, Maj Shabbir Sharif Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) in 1971 War and Captian Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) and Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) during the Kargil war in 1999.
