SANAA, Yemen: The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Monday that a merchant vessel was hit by two unidentified projectiles around 70 nautical miles northwest of the port of Saleef in Yemen.
A third explosion also occurred nearby, but there were no casualties on board, and damage control operations were underway.
The Houthi, who have previously attacked international shipping near Yemen since November in support of Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, are suspected of involvement.
Additionally, a drone hit another merchant vessel about 50 nautical miles west of Yemen’s Hodeidah, but no injuries or damage were reported.
British security firm Ambrey noted that the vessel’s location was near a previously attacked ship but did not align with the Houthis’ declared targeting profile. UKMTO also received reports of an incident 58 nautical miles west of Hodeidah, which is still under investigation.
