BARCELONA: Spain’s police is still in search of 12 passengers who fled from their plane on Wednesday after plane made an emergency landing at Barcelona airport.
The Spanish officials termed the emergency landing of the plane ‘may be a fake medical incident’. The 12 passengers escaped from their plane, were part of a 28 people group on a Pegasus Airlines flight departing from Casablanca (Morocco) to Istanbul (Turkey) which made its dawn landing at Barcelona’s El Prat airport in Spain.
Spanish Police were initially searching 14 passengers but later they announced the arrests of two passengers. Now 12 people are on the search list of Police.
Second such incident in Spain
The Pegasus Airliner requested an emergency landing from Spanish authorities on medical reason that “a female passenger’s waters had supposedly broken”, said the source of Spain’s government. After the emergency landing, the ambulance and three police patrols cached the passenger plane to rescue the pregnant woman in the flight. In this emergency situation, a group of 28 people left the plane and tried to flee from the airport.
Police action
Police in quick reaction managed to detain 14 passengers out of 28 including the pregnant woman, who made possible the emergency landing of plane. Five passengers were returned to the plane at their own and being accepted back by the Turkish airline officials.
An official of Spanish government said that “The woman was taken to Sant Joan de De hospital for a medical check-up, and doctors found no signs of female patient in labour. Medical Authorities had discharged the women and Police later had arrested her for disturbing the public order by fake claiming of medical emergency.
Spain authorities on the fate of fled passengers
Spanish government initiated the process to detain the escaped passengers and return them back to Morocco. The previous flight escape incident happened on November 5, 2021, involving a flight from Morocco to Turkey. The plane flying from same route departing from Casablanca to Istanbul was forced to make an emergency landing on medical reason in Mallorca after one passenger had acted to be unwell.
Spanish authorities, after the passenger was evacuated from the plane with the help of his companion, meanwhile another group of 21 people fled from the scene.
The passenger, who had created chaos for going into a coma, due to diabetic was shifted to hospital but found to be medically fit. Passenger was then arrested, while the companion escaped.
Police detained 12 people, including a passenger who created a disturbance on the plane, while another 12 managed to escape from being detained by the Spanish Police. (APP)
