ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam has announced that President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussain Amirabdollahian have passed away after a helicopter crash in a mountainous region. In a statement, he said, “I regret to announce with profound grief President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussain Amirabdollahian, embraced Shahadat following a helicopter crash while on a mission to inaugurate a developmental project with a neighbouring country.”
Iranian embassy said in a statement that in honour and commemoration of the “martyrdom” of President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussain Amirabdollahian and other accompanying delegation, the Embassy of Iran in Islamabad raises the flag at half-mast.
Earlier, Iranian media declared President Raisi dead on Monday following his helicopter crash in a mountainous region. Iran’s Mehr News agency reported, “The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, had an accident while serving and performing his duty for the people of Iran and was “killed”. It reported that the Iranian president, foreign minister and other occupants of the helicopter, including East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malek Rahmati, have been killed.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced a “Day of Mourning” in the country over the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan province.

In a statement via social media, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed condolences and sympathies to the people of Iran on the death of President of Iran.
