TEHRAN: The Iranian military said on Sunday its missile and drone strike on Israel, in retaliation for an attack on Damascus consulate in Syria has “achieved all its objectives”.
AFP reported that Iranian armed forces’ chief of staff told Iranian official TV that strike was fully successfully from last night to this morning and also achieved all its objectives. He said that they see this operation as complete, and this operation has concluded in their opinion. The Iranian top military official said that there was no intention to further continue this operation. He called on Israel to avert taking further action against Tehran which according to Iranian military head would result in a “much bigger” reply. He also warned Washington against helping any Israeli action against Tehran.
Tehran has said it has attacked Israel in “self-defence” after the April 1st attack on its consulate in Damascus.
Iran Military Says Strike on Israel ‘Achieved Its Objectives’
On the other hand, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq have reopened their airspace today following closing it late on Saturday as Iran launched missile and drone strikes against Israel, the three countries stated on Sunday.
According to Lebanon state run television, the country stated that its airport will resume its operations following the overnight closure. Iraq’s aviation officials also said security risks had now been overcome.
On the other hand, Jordan’s official Television reported that it had resumed air traffic operations, quoting aviation officials. Earlier, Jordan had announced the closure of its airspace to all flights temporarily from 11:00pm local time on Saturday, for several hours. The authorities said at the time that the action was taken in order to ensure the safety and security of civil aviation in Jordan’s airspace.
Similarly, Italy has called a video meeting of G7 leaders on Sunday (today) to discuss Iran’s strike on Israel late on Saturday, local media reported. Italy holds the rotating presidency of the G7 countries. In a statement via social media, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that they expressed their deep concern regarding a further destabilization in the region and continue to work to avert that. The G7 groups the United States, Italy, Canada, France, Britain, Japan and Germany.
