Jeddah: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha has extended his warm congratulations to Qatar in particular, and to all OIC member states in general for holding the international sporting event of World Cup 2022 in Doha.
Hissein Brahim Taha expressed to the government and people of Qatar his sincere congratulations and best wishes for this great and well-deserved achievement, which is an accomplishment for Qatar and for all the countries and peoples of the OIC, said a press release.
The OIC Secretary-General stressed that this achievement was a result of the efforts made by Qatar in the field of sport and the enhancement of youth capabilities, and wished the country for further progress and prosperity in all fields.
The OIC Secretary-General emphasized the role of sport in promoting peace, solidarity, social cohesion and socio-economic development, and highlighted that the global popularity of football can bring people together and play a positive role in promoting development and peace.
