ISLAMABAD: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake rattled Islamabad, Peshawar, Punjab, and several other cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Thursday afternoon, as reported by the National Seismic Monitoring Center.
The tremors were felt across northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including Swabi, according to updates from private news channels.
The earthquake’s epicenter was identified in the Hindukush Region, Afghanistan, situated at a depth of 213 km. Residents in the affected areas rushed out of their homes in panic as the ground shook; however, as of now, there are no reports of damages or casualties.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and residents are advised to remain vigilant. The seismic event serves as a reminder of the region’s susceptibility to earthquakes, prompting continued efforts in disaster preparedness and response.
