LAHORE: Lahore’s metro bus is set to conclude the temporary provision of free bus services for students on the Metro Bus and Orange Train from tomorrow.
This decision, initiated by the Education Department due to the winter break scheduled from December 18 to January 1, marks the end of the complimentary travel privilege for students up to class XII. The Secretary of Transport Punjab confirms that the free travel benefit will cease operation starting from Saturday.
However, there is a silver lining to this development as the free metro bus facility is expected to resume after the winter vacations.
Free Rides in Metro Bus and Orange Line Metro Train Services
Punjab government had previously introduced a commendable initiative, allowing individuals with disabilities, senior citizens, and students to enjoy free rides on both the Metro bus service and Orange Line Metro Train. This initiative, aimed at improving public well-being and convenience, received praise from the provincial minister.
In the face of prevailing economic challenges and high inflation, the provision of free transportation facilities is viewed as a tangible effort by the Punjab government to ease the burdens faced by citizens in urban areas.
