LAHORE: A comprehensive smog lockdown is set to be enforced in Lahore Tomorrow (Sunday) across six divisions along with nine districts in Punjab.

Lahore, once the topmost polluted city globally, now ranks fourth. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) hit 230 on Saturday, with the Baidian Road areas recording the highest AQI at an alarming 504.

Notably, Cantt Polo Ground, Jail Road, Mall Road, Kot Lakhpat, and DHA Phase 5 are among the most severely affected areas in Lahore. Educational institutions remained shut on Saturday as part of the strategic smog lockdown.

Despite resistance from traders, 15 individuals were apprehended. Markets and business hubs are slated to open post 3:00 PM today (Saturday) in Lahore. However, on Sundays, commercial centers in all six divisions, including Lahore, will remain entirely closed.

Moreover, on Sundays, the historically significant Mall Road in Lahore will be dedicated solely to cycling activities from morning until 5:00 PM, a measure initiated by the district government to combat the adverse impacts of smog.
