CAIRO: The Secretary-General of the League of Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit has expressed his regret at the failure of the UNSC to vote in favor of two resolutions on the situation in Gaza, emphasizing that this failure shows the lack of a real global will to put an end to the military operation conducted by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip despite its blatant violation of global humanitarian law by targeting civilian population, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

Arab League Expresses Regret at UNSC Council Failure to Reach Decision on Gaza

The Arab League chief said: “The failure to reach a resolution in the UNSC puts a big question mark over its ability and credibility to conduct its main mission in maintaining global security and peace, especially since the call for an urgent ceasefire represented the main reason behind the failure to approve the two resolutions.”

The Secretary General spokesperson explained that Aboul Gheit attended the discussion held in the UNSC two days ago and his speech on the occasion reflected the Arab stance calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, finding a fast and sustainable mechanism to provide humanitarian help to the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip, and also rejecting the forced displacement of the people.
