BEIJING: Pakistan’s Minister for Heritage and Culture, Syed Jamal Shah, announced plans for a cultural caravan named the ‘CPEC Cultural Caravan 2023,’ aimed at strengthening cultural bonds between Pakistan, China, and the Central Asian States.
The caravan will bring together a diverse group of artists, musicians, photographers, anthropologists, writers, and filmmakers from Pakistan, China, and Central Asia. Jamal Shah shared these details during an award ceremony for the film ‘Ba’tie Girl,’ which took place in the newly renovated auditorium of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing (PECB).
At the event, the minister presented the Pakistan-China Cultural Exchange Envoy Award to the film’s producer, Xie Peng, and the Pakistan National Award for Outstanding Achievement in Culture to the co-producer of the film. The CPEC Cultural Caravan will commence its journey from Xi’an, China, and traverse through Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, UAE, Oman, Gwadar, Karachi, ultimately concluding in Islamabad.
Cultural Caravan to Document Diverse Lives on CPEC, Silk Route
This cultural excursion will document the experiences and stories of the people along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Silk Route, covering Central Asian countries, in December this year.
Pakistan Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, welcomed the minister and commended his role in expanding cultural cooperation between Pakistan and China. He emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in strengthening the enduring friendship between the two nations. Ambassador Haque also noted that Pakistan and China are celebrating the Year of Tourism, expressing confidence that increased tourism will further promote understanding and exchanges between the two countries.
Xie Peng, the film’s producer, provided an overview of the movie, emphasizing its focus on women’s empowerment and fostering friendship between Pakistan and China. The event also featured a screening of ‘Ba’tie Girl,’ a film showcasing artists from both Pakistan and China.
Before the ceremony, the minister, along with the ambassador and the college principal, inaugurated the auditorium. The event was attended by senior diplomats, officials, teachers, media representatives, and members of the community.
