Comsats University Abbottabad Holds Convocation, Awards Degrees to 1357 Students

ABBOTTABAD: Comsats University Abbottabad has awarded MS/BS degrees to about 1,357 students, both at the undergraduate and graduate programs while 27 students received PhD degrees, and 47 students were honored for their exceptional performance with gold, bronze, and silver medals, local media reported on Monday.

The event marked the 22nd and 23rd convocation at the university, held on the campus grounds. The special guest for the ceremony was Professor Dr. Sajid Qamar.  While addressing the convocation, Professor Dr. Sajid Qamar lauded the university’s management and faculty members for their high dedication in raising Pakistan’s educational standards at the global level.

Professor Dr. Sajid Qamar emphasized the key role that graduates play in the progress and development of the country and also encouraged them to contribute to Pakistan’s progress with their skills and dedication. He underscored the importance of scientific research in achieving economic progress and addressing the challenges of the 21st century.

He appreciated the efforts of Professor Dr. Muhammad Ma’roof Shah, the Director of the Abbottabad campus, in communicating outstanding academic skills to the students.

Dr. Sajid Qamar encouraged the graduates to be grateful of the opportunities they’ve been given and the knowledge acquired from an institution like COMSATS University. He asked them to maintain a strong work ethic and express gratitude to their teachers and parents, emphasizing that consistent hard work and mutual respect would lead to their self-improvement.

In his speech, Dr. Muhammad Ma’roof Shah explained the university’s history, aims, and continuous efforts to develop a supportive and productive atmosphere for students. He admitted the contributions of faculty, staff, and other stakeholders and extended his greetings to the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students, as well as their parents, for their extraordinary achievements.
