ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have said that action will be taken against workers and leaders of a political party if they resorted to protesting in the capital without a prior permission.
A spokesperson for the Islamabad police said that political leaders including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders including Parvez Khattak, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Amir Kayani, Ali Amin Gandapur and Aamir Dogar, who have been booked in vandalism cases, will be arrested in case they entered the capital.
The spokesperson urged the people to report any suspicious activity to helpline 15 and also requested political leaders to stage demonstrations and protests at designated locations and that too with the permission of the local administration.
The police also requested the public to report on 15 about the status of the entry and exist routes after the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf announced to close down roads in the federal capital.
Police announced that routes leading to the Islamabad International Airport will also remain open to domestic and international travellers. It said that law enforcement officials will keep an eye on roads and highways leading to the Islamabad International Airport.
This follows PTI leader Pervez Khattak’s announcement that his party would begin blocking the federal capital’s entry and exit ports on Monday. He also said that the stalled long march would also resume on Tuesday and caravans from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will join them.
PTI chief Imran Khan, who has been discharged from hospital after he sustained a bullet wound in his shin after his container came under attack in Wazirabad on November, said that he will join the long march in Rawalpindi before it moves onto the federal capital.
Imran Khan said that “We have decided that our march will resume on Tuesday from the same location in Wazirabad where I and 11 others were shot, and where Moazzam was martyred.”
Khan said that when the long march reaches Rawalpindi, he will join it and lead it himself. “I will address the march from Lahore and our march, within the next 10 to 14 days, depending on the speed, will reach Rawalpindi.” Imran added.
