RAWALPINDI: Punjab’s Minister for Transport, Minerals, and Livestock Ibrahim Hasan Murad on Thursday underscored the significant value of the youth, emphasizing that they constitute a vital asset for the country.
These remarks were made during his address at the swearing-in ceremony of volunteers for Leading Governance, held at the Punjab Arts Council in Rawalpindi on Thursday. He said that youth, fortunately, form the majority of the population.
Ibrahim highlighted the dedicated efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his cabinet, who have been serving without a salary or benefits. In just over two weeks, over 10,000 individuals have registered as volunteers.
He praised the chief minister’s austerity policy, explaining that it has led to savings in taxpayers’ money. Additionally, wherever the Punjab Chief Minister visits, he personally covers the expenses.
Ibrahim stated that the initiatives undertaken by the Punjab government are driven by the goal of working for the welfare of the people rather than personal interests.
He emphasized that the agriculture, livestock, minerals, and information technology sectors are a top priority in the development program of the national agenda. As the Minister of Local Government, he initiated direct bidding for cattle markets, which resulted in earnings of 5.77 billion rupees.
Under the austerity campaign, monthly expenses for the Lahore Waste Management Company were reduced by 100 million rupees.
Ibrahim recognized Pakistan’s abundant natural resources, such as being the world’s second-largest salt deposit holder and the third-largest in copper deposits. Punjab plays a significant role in Pakistan’s poultry industry, contributing 75 percent, and also provides 45 percent of beef meat and 35 percent of mutton meat.

He mentioned the importance of halal meat exports and the ongoing establishment of Dairy Free Zones in various districts of Punjab. He concluded by expressing that with diligent efforts, Punjab has the potential to become the global food capital.
During the ceremony, Sadaf Zubair, the Focal Person for Leading Governance, addressed the audience, sharing her thoughts about the youth’s dedication and passion for the betterment and establishment of VLG. The provincial minister administered the oath to the volunteer youth at the conclusion of the event.
