MIRPUR, AJK: World Teachers Day was observed across Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) with a renewed commitment to uphold the utmost respect and honor for teachers, in line with the revered status of the teacher-student relationship as emphasized in Islamic teachings.
Parents and students extended good wishes to teachers and prayed for their long and healthy lives on “Salam Teachers Day,” a global observance.
Special meetings and rallies were held in various places across AJK, including Mirpur, to commemorate the day. At an event hosted at the local campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) School, Director Atique ul Amin Khan, Principal Ayesha Imran Mirza, Vice Principal Maria Attique, and other experienced educators and students highlighted the significance and nobility of the teacher-student relationship, echoing the teachings of Islam.
During the event, speakers stressed the importance of always maintaining the highest standards of respect and honor for teachers. Teachers at the IIUI School marked the day by crowning their students as a gesture of love and affection. Students, in turn, prayed for their teachers’ well-being, good fortune, and long life.
Principal Ayesha Imran Mirza advised the children always to show profound respect for their teachers, as teachers hold a position of honor and dignity next to parents. On this occasion, schoolchildren paid heartfelt tributes to their teachers and extended good wishes to them, demonstrating their solidarity and respect.
Additionally, marking World Teachers Day, seasoned academician and IIUI Vice Principal Maria Atiq Khan expressed her profound respect and gratitude for her first Nursery class school teacher, emphasizing that Teacher’s Day provides students with the opportunity to pay tribute to their teachers who have not only been mentors but also their guides in life. —APP
