SYDNEY: New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has tested positive for COVID-19, his office said in a statement on Sunday. The statement maintained that the Prime Minister will perform his work remotely via Zoon. His office maintained that Chris Hipkins will not attend any activity in person. Local media also reported that Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the PM’s office, Chris Hipkins has flu and cold symptoms that began on Saturday and would isolate for at least five days. The statement further said that the PM will continue his activities via zoom.

As per local media reports, Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand Carmel Sepuloni will be standing in Hipkins’ place at Sunday’s election manifesto launch in Auckland.
