Pakistan’s President Lauds Stronger Ties with China, Venezuela, and Colombia

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, urged for enhanced cooperation in trade, economy, culture, and defense with the People’s Republic of China, emphasizing China’s status as a trusted and steadfast friend.

Pakistan aims to fortify the strategic partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.

These sentiments were conveyed during President Alvi’s meetings with the ambassadors-designate of the People’s Republic of China, Venezuela (Non-resident), and the Republic of Colombia (Non-resident). The diplomats presented their credentials and separately met with President Alvi at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, read a statement released by the President Secretariat Press Wing.

The president welcomed China’s Ambassador-designate to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, and stated that Pakistan values its ties with China since it has always stood by it in difficult times.  He stated that Pakistan would continue to back China on all critical issues.

President Highlights CPEC’s Role in Socio-Economic Development

President Alvi highlighted the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its substantial contribution to Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He said that CPEC had played a pivotal role in modernizing infrastructure, enhancing capacity, and ensuring a sustainable energy supply. Pakistan remains fully committed to the timely completion of all CPEC projects.

The president also conveyed gratitude for China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s socio-economic progress and its principled stance on the Jammu & Kashmir dispute.

In his meeting with Ambassador-designate Jose Rafael Silva Aponte of Venezuela, President Alvi highlighted Pakistan’s special focus on improving trade and economic relations with Venezuela. He pointed out that Venezuelan investors could benefit from Pakistan’s investment-friendly policies.

Colombia Ambassador Meets President

During his conversation with Ambassador-designate Julio Anibal Riano Velandia of the Republic of Colombia, President Alvi emphasized the need to further strengthen economic, cultural, and trade ties with Colombia. He congratulated the envoys on their appointments and expressed hope that they would play pivotal roles in advancing bilateral cooperation between their respective countries and Pakistan.
