RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi District Police on Wednesday finalized foolproof security arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
A police spokesman said that the police, on the directives of City Police Officer Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani, finalized foolproof security arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Karbala martyrs.
He said that the CPO had directed the police officers to ensure foolproof security for the Chehlum and utilize all available resources to ensure tight security cover for the mourners.
Over 4,000 police personnel would be deployed for the security of the processions, while 250 City Traffic officers and Traffic Wardens would also be stationed to regulate traffic on city roads, he added.
He said that a control room would be established in the CPO office, Rawalpindi, to ensure the implementation of the security plan.
CCTV Cameras to Bolster Security
He further said that CCTV cameras were also installed to monitor the processions.
The spokesperson said that three-layer security would be provided to the processions, and walk-through gates would be installed at the processions’ entry points. The participants would be allowed to join the main procession after a complete body search.
Under the security arrangements, no one will be permitted to stand on the rooftops of residential and commercial buildings situated along the procession routes. Snipers will also be stationed for the security of the main procession.
Searching and sweeping of the main procession route would be conducted, and roads, streets, diversion points, and other routes along the main procession line would be sealed.
