MIRPUR: Raja Muzaffar, the US-based acting Chairman of JKLF (Yasin Malik Group), has appealed to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, requesting his moral and diplomatic influence to save the life of prominent Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is currently imprisoned in India.
In his appeal, Muzaffar, a close associate of Malik based in America, highlighted the good relations between Saudi Arabia and India.
He said that the upcoming visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to New Delhi at the invitation of the Indian government is a better opportunity to raise the issue, urging the Crown Prince to use his influence to ensure the safety and well-being of Yasin Malik.
Crown Prince’s visit
As per the media reports, the crown prince is scheduled to visit India on September 11 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The appeal, sent to the Crown Prince through the Saudi Arabian embassy in Washington DC, highlighted Yasin Malik’s efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue through meetings with former Prime Ministers of India, Pakistan, American and Saudi officials. It also mentioned Yasin Malik’s arrest by the current government of India before the abrogation of Article 370 and the subsequent filing of cases against him.
Muzaffar expresseed concern over the rising tide of hatred against Muslims in India, stating there is no hope of Yasin Malik receiving justice.
He emphasized that the life of the Kashmiri leader is under threat, which is a matter of concern not only for Kashmiri muslims but also for the muslims worldwide.
In his letter, Muzaffar includeed copies of his interviews and articles published in Saudi Arabian newspapers, appealing to the Saudi ruler to intervene on humanitarian grounds and save Yasin Malik’s life.
He expressed hope that Saudi Arabia, a country loved by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, will play a role in protecting the beloved leader of the Kashmiris.
Muzaffar concludes by saying that he is also drawing the attention of other international human rights organizations to the situation.
